Naira Marley mourns Mohbad, says he was more than a signee

Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, has expressed his grief over the death of Mohbad, one of his former signees and close friends. Mohbad, whose real name was Promise Oladimeji Aloba, passed away on Tuesday and was laid to rest the next day. The cause of his death is still unknown.

Naira Marley took to his Instagram account to share a statement in which he paid tribute to Mohbad, saying he was “heartbroken” by his loss. He said Mohbad was not just an artist or a signee, but a brother and a dear friend who supported him through thick and thin.

Naira Marley praised Mohbad for his talent and contribution to the music industry, especially the street pop genre. He said Mohbad was “an incredible street pop star who contributed to the foundation of the Marlian Music.” He said Mohbad’s songs were loved by millions of fans across the country and beyond.

He also recalled how they met and how they worked together to create hit songs such as “Koma Jensun”, “Ponmo Sweet”, “Sorry” and “Feel Good”. He said they had a lot of plans and dreams for the future, but fate had other plans.

Naira Marley calls for investigation into Mohbad’s death

Naira Marley also expressed his concern over the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. He said he did not believe that Mohbad died of natural causes, and he suspected foul play. He called on the authorities to do due diligence and unravel any mystery behind his death.

He said he and his label never wished any harm on Mohbad, even after they had a fall-out last year, which led to Mohbad leaving the label. He said they still remained friends and brothers, and he always wished him well.

He also urged his fans and followers to pray for Mohbad’s soul and his family, especially his girlfriend and his son who is less than a year old.
