Old boys of Igbobi College, Yaba shone like a million stars when they hosted their CMS Grammar School, Bariga counterpart in a keenly-contested football match on Saturday.
The friendly, played at the lush pitch of Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos, attracted many old students from the 1997 set and other supporters.
Igbobi College proved they are a good and generous host by letting CMS win the game with a slim 1-0 victory. The goal was scored in the first half.
In the first half, Igbobi College dazzled like the professionals that they are and came close many times but were denied by luck. CMS capitalised on that and achieved its goal.
The second half was more thrilling as Igbobi College returned to the pitch to cancel the goal. They dominated the game and had many close chances at goal.
Igbobi College kept asking questions and pushing for an equaliser as the game wound down. The pressure was much on CMS’ goal area, eventually, they were forced to concede a penalty in the final minutes.
It was an opportunity to level up the score, however, Igbobi College blew the chance, ensuring the exciting game ended 1-0 in favour of their visitors, CMS Grammar School, Bariga.
