Arts, Cultural Exhibition & Food Fair

BACKGROUND
In 2019 the maiden edition of this exhibition was held in Conjunction with the National Museum and the National Arts Gallery.
Venue was the Calabar sports club 1898, situating the club as the first social club in Nigeria.
The exhibition featured, visual art, painting, sculpture Bead making and photography also showcased ancient and contemporary artifacts of Cross River State.
The five day event revealed so many hidden facts about the long cultural history hidden in the art of the people as well as exposing several potential young and budding talents.
The exhibition which was conceptualized to be an annual festival of colours, suffered a setback from the covid19 pandemic which crippled the world. Other factors beyond our control further held down the project till now.
THE 2023 EDITION
The 2023 Edition, will be bigger and beƩer. Covering a variety of events across multiple venues and locations all happening at the same time.
All the museums will be open for the exhibition at the same time, i.e. The old residency (National Museum), The Slave Museum, The National arts gallery, the cultural center, and the Monoliths sites.
The 2023 edition promises to be bigger and more expressive, showcasing our journey as a people from almost 200AD to these contemporary times, we shall be inviting the world to cross river state. History has it that after the Nok culture, the monoliths at Ogoja and Calabar Terracotta are 2nd and 3rd in Nigeria, our findings at the old residency, The slave Museum, Esuk Mmba , National Arts Gallery and the different art schools gives credence to the need to bring the world to Calabar.
A position that is further strengthened by the interaction with members of the cultural and art communities.
THE PEOPLE’S CULTURE
THE FOOD & MOVIE FESTIVAL
The food and movie festival will feature the Premier of the Efik epic movie, Mutanda Oyom Nnamondo all through the week as well a food exhibition for the tasting of delicacies from different parts of Cross River State. Symposium and seminars will be held across venues. The week long cultural fiesta will be crowned with a fashion show and gala night.
